Looking for the best breakfast and/or brunch in Bethany Beach, Delaware?  Look no further ‘cause we’ve got ya covered!  With Bethany Beach now firmly ensconced as a mid-Atlantic foodie destination, restaurants are a hot ticket here and it’s no wonder some are are specifically catered to breakfast and lunch – and others are expanding to include breakfast.  Whether it’s Sunday or mid-week, you’ve got plenty of options…

 

The 3BB Café is your one-stop-shop for all things coffee and pastries which come from (you may have guessed) the Three Blonde Bakers shop right in front of the café.  This is a great stop for grabbing gourmet, fair trade/organic coffee, homemade pastries and more to surprise your family when they wake up…or just enjoy it by yourself on the beach while you have some peace and quiet ;-)  Oh, and they do have healthy options too.

 

Season: Open Daily, 8am – 5pm

Off-Season:  Open on weekends at 8am

 

Baja Beach House Grill is your go-to for fresh Mex brekky.  Not only do they have burritos, bowls & tacos with all your fave morning meats (including chorizo), they also have their Baja Java coffee bar AND serve mimosas and bloody marys!

 

Season: Open Daily, 8am – 11:30am

Breakfast is served all day at the Beach Break Bakrie & Café, from bagel sandwiches, Belgian waffles and pastries to acai bowls, coffee, smoothies and more.  You’re sure to find your fix before hitting the sand!

Off-Season:  Open daily (except Tuesdays), 7:30am – 3pm

 

Bethany Blues has been one of the go-to brunch destinations for quite some time for locals and visitors alike.  Their breakfast skillet offerings are pretty darn cool and include bbq, crab and scrapple options.  And where else can you get ribs and eggs?  Don’t forget to try the make-your-own bloody mary bar!  

 

Open Sundays at 10am, year-round

 

Bethany’s family-owned diner offers breakfast all day!  Whether you’re rolling in at 2pm and want your fill of breakfasty carbs (we get ya) or your kid's favorite food is pancakes (which you won't have to make), you’re all set no matter what time of day it is …oh, and they have great breakfast sandwiches, too, among a ton of other options.  One thing, though...if you want Belgian waffles, make sure you get there before noon (it's the only item they don't offer all day)!

The Cottage Café is a definite local fave – and they’re the only restaurant to have an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet!  From traditional scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage to cream chip beef, pancakes, French toast and fruit/yogurt bar (and much more), it doesn’t matter how big or small your brunch group is (or the age range), everyone’s covered!

 

Available Sundays from 9am to 12:30pm, year-round

 

Drifting Grounds is a year-round local fave that offers sandwiches, pastries, frittatas and more (almost always vegan and gluten-free options are available) along with their artisanal coffees and other beverages (be sure to try their vanilla chai latte - it's the.best.ever. - hot or cold)!  Oh, and it's the cool place where you can become part of the 'Suck Responsibly' movement (ask one of the awesome baristas if you don't know what that means) ;-)

 

Season:  Open daily, 7am – 3pm

Off-Season:  Open daily (except Mondays), 7:30am – 2pm

 

For coffee, donuts and breakfast sandwiches, you can head to ‘Dunkies’ in your jammies and feed the whole family without ever having to get out of the car – ‘cause they have a drive-through.

Fins offers a changing, seasonal brunch menu every Sunday…you never know what you’re going to get!  From cool concoctions like the bananas foster French toast pictured, to staples for those that don’t like to stray too far from breakfast ‘normality’, everyone’s bound to be happy!

Heidaway has a walk-up window where you can order pour-over coffee from Local Coffee Roasting Company (who is actually local) and vegan treats from Bella's Cookies!  So, when ya don't feel like the full-on breakfast and just wanna watch the waves and seagulls, stop by and grab some deliciousness before you do (just guard your treats). 

 

Season:  Thursday through Sunday, 8am - 11am

Yep, Bethany Beach has a McDonalds – for those ‘morning afters’ – and if you’re craving a McMuffin or three, you got it!  And, hey, they open at 6am, so if you haven’t gone to sleep yet, grab a nosh before you do.  They also offer a limited breakfast menu all day and are open year-round.

The Penguin offers an eclectic breakfast menu, available all day, that includes lump crab omelets, jumbo breakfast wraps, penguin parfaits and more…be sure to check out ‘Nina’s Nutella Delights’!

Off-Season:  Open Friday – Sunday, 9am – 3pm

 

Ropewalk serves brunch both weekend days with a diverse menu ranging from omelets (that include a Seafood Bruschetta) to various Benedicts (crab cake anyone?) to pancakes, waffles and more.  Oh, and they offer half price house bloody marys during brunch OR, if you’re not that hungry, try their Bacon & Eggs bloody mary that’s garnished with deviled eggs and bacon – it’s breakfast in a cup!

 

Saturdays & Sundays, 10am – 2pm, year-round

 

Sandy Pony is, hands down, Bethany’s favorite donuts – they’re handmade to order.  And, for the ‘fruitcake’ in the fam that doesn’t like (or want) donuts?  Well, they have acai bowls too.

Got a crepe fan in the family?  Sunshine Crepes offers a variety of sweet and savory crepes, where every crepe is made to order and is prepared with a ‘made from scratch daily‘ batter. But that’s not all…they also serve waffles and bowls (parfait, chia, acai & pitaya), smoothies and more – like specialty dessert crepes. Peaches, sweet cream cheese and Grand Marnier crepes anyone? 

 

Season:  Open daily, 8am – 10pm

Off-Season:  Open Thursday, 9am – 2pm; Friday & Sunday, 8am – 2pm; Saturday 8am – 3pm

 

Well you can’t get a better view than at Turtle Beach Café, who’s open every day for all of your breakfast/brunch needs.  From their homemade quiches to mermaid bowls and paninis/salads/wraps to fruit smoothies, everyone’s sure to be happy with a stop here!
