NOTE: This is an annual event, so if you missed this year's paddle, add it to your calendar so you don't miss the next one!
It's tough, sometimes, wanting to help - and do it at the local level - for something that you're super passionate about. You want to make a difference and, more importantly, SEE the difference you've made. Well, here at the beach, that's not a problem! Paddle Second Chance at Holt's Landing State Park in Millville (a hop, skip and a jump from Bethany Beach) is an annual event that we can all get behind. This worthy fundraiser supports Operation Second Chance - Delmar, who is dedicated to helping local wounded veteran families. They help 'Heroes Move On' - 39 families, so far, to be exact.
You can help by simply registering to paddle for $70 here, simple as that. If you want to do more, you CAN! You can raise funds from colleagues, friends, neighbors and businesses too! If you're able to raise over $250, your registration fee is waived and you're also eligible for prize drawings. Want a kick in the you know what? Go for broke - the paddler or group who raises the most money gets a special award and event recognition! AND...feel great about this...90% of the money raised goes directly to these local veteran families...BAM! So grab some folks you know who love (or just like) to paddle (all levels are welcome) and register!
You can find out everything you need to know about race details and registration on Paddle Second Chance's official website here - but before you go, check out this awesome interview about it from Delmarva Life:
